A veteran is the result of years of preparation and experience in various fields, such as military, social, cultural, and political. Despite the wounds and aftermath of his battles, he carries love for the homeland in his heart and defends democracy, justice and freedom. His vocation for service and virtues drive him to contribute positively to society and promote coexistence and progress.

According to the 1979 Veteran Law: They are all members of the Public Force with retirement allowance, disability pensioners and those who hold the distinction of honor reservist. Veterans are also all those who have participated on behalf of the Republic of Colombia in international conflicts. As well as, those members of the Public Force who are victims under the terms of Article 3 of Law 1448 of 2011, for events that occurred in active service and due to it.
